Rockingham, N.C. (Friday, February 7, 2014) — Associates at Perdue Farms’ Rockingham operation contributed $47,788.60 to the United Way of Richmond County. The campaign also includes a $4,344 grant funded by the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms.
United Way is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to maximize the communities’ resources to improve the lives of all the members of the community. Through the combination of generous individual and business contributions, the United Way of Richmond County is able to support such agencies as Sandhills Children’s Center, Richmond County 4-H, Back Pack Pals and Richmond County Aging Services as well as many other local agencies.
The Perdue campaign allowed associates to use a simple payroll deduction process to individually contribute to the United Way. Despite tough economic conditions, Perdue associates still managed to dig deep in their pockets to support their local community.
“We are happy to support the United Way of Richmond County,” said Lesley King, Perdue human resources manager in Rockingham. “At Perdue, where teamwork is so important to our success, we recognize the importance of neighbors helping neighbors.”
“Perdue is one of our largest campaigns for our community and we are very thankful that the Perdue team participates with our campaign,” said Michelle Parrish, executive director of United Way of Richmond County. “The investment that the Perdue associates make to our local United Way insures that our partnering agency programs of work continue and reach those that need the assistance.”
