Perdue Associates Join Maryland Food Bank in Annual ‘Pack to Give Back’ Holiday Initiative

November 14, 2019

SALISBURY, MD. (Thursday, Nov. 14, 2018)  As part of a company commitment to hunger relief, Perdue Farms associates helped pack hundreds of holiday meals for families in need during the Maryland Food Bank-Eastern Shore’s “Pack to Give Back” initiative on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

“At Perdue, we believe that no one should go hungry and Pack To Give Back is a wonderful platform for our company and associates to engage in addressing this belief and provide a little holiday cheer to our neighbors on the Eastern Shore,” said Kim Nechay, executive director of the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, which sponsored the event through a $10,000 grant. “We are again proud to sponsor this event through our decades long partnership with the Maryland Food Bank.”

Paired with turkeys, volunteers filled 1,084 meal boxes containing traditional holiday fixings, such as cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and stuffing. The boxes will be distributed to soup kitchens, pantries and shelters across the Shore, ensuring a holiday meal for individuals and families who might otherwise go without.

“One in nine Marylanders, including children, seniors, veterans and hard-working families, face hunger on a daily basis,” said Jennifer Small, regional program director for the Maryland Food Bank-Eastern Shore. “It’s because of community-minded partners like Perdue Farms and dedicated community volunteers that we are able to pack and distribute holiday meals to those who need them the most.”
