Perdue Southeast DC Associates Partner With United Way and Second Harvest Food Bank To Help Feed Georgia Families In Effingham County

August 26, 2019

Salisbury, Md. (Monday, August 26, 2019) — Perdue associates from the company’s distribution center in Rincon, Ga., recently joined the United Way of the Coastal Empire and America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia to feed more than 300 Effingham County families at a mobile food pantry.

Perdue associates joined volunteers from Lineage Logistics to hand out pre-packed boxes of food prepared by America’s Second Harvest during the distribution at Springfield Recreational Park. A family of four will be able to have several days’ worth of meals with one box.

“We’re grateful to team up with Perdue and America’s Second Harvest to provide food to local families and individuals in need,” said Elizabeth Waters, area director of United Way of the Coastal Empire, Effingham County office. “This resource is especially essential for local families who experience financial hardship this time of year as budgets are stretched with the start of school. Unfortunately, they often struggle to make tough choices between buying grocers and paying for other necessities.

“We are so grateful for the associates at Perdue,” said Waters. “They continue to make a positive impact in our community. We are grateful for their partnership.”

The Mobile Food Pantry in Effingham County is open to residents of Effingham County on a first-come, first-served basis and takes place up to twice a year.
